Visual Storytelling Webinar: TheBrain Offers Mind Mapping Software Solutions for Writer’s Block
TheBrain: No Limits Mind Mapping and Information Management
In May, TheBrain Technologies’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing Operations Shelley Hayduk and Director of Customer Solutions Matt Caton cohosted a webinar titled “Visual Story Telling: Inside Your Writer's Brain” to showcase how TheBrain 8 can assist authors throughout the writing process. This company-led and sponsored webinar — which utilized GoToMeeting’s screen-share feature — reiterates many of the same concepts that Hayduk and Caton explored a year earlier in a similar presentation with the same name.
Mind mapping for the 21st century, TheBrain provides users with a free digital space where they can organize, store and share an unlimited number of concepts. Authors in particular can appreciate the software’s versatility. Its drag and drop feature proves especially useful for those who want to save Web pages or images for future reference during character, plot or setting development. Authors can also drag and drop Outlook emails directly into TheBrain to keep track of manuscript acceptance and rejection letters from publishers as well as feedback from literary agents.
In a 2010 article titled “Concept Mapping, Mind Mapping and Argument Mapping: What are the Differences and Do They Matter?” author Martin Davies writes, “If students can represent or manipulate a complex set of relationships in a diagram, they are more likely to understand those relationships, remember them, and be able to analyse their component parts.” As TheBrain executives and writers themselves, Hayduk and Caton possess a certain level of insider expertise that evokes a sense of confidence and trust in the software’s ability to help writers do just that. The software allows them to tap into their creative side and overcome writer’s block. Overall, Hayduk and Caton successfully demonstrate the different tools geared at achieving this goal.
This webinar is just one within a series of webinars that Hayduk and Caton cohost weekly as part of TheBrain’s software marketing campaign, which the company promotes through its company newsletter and on its blog; website; and Facebook, Twitter, and Google + pages. In his book Special Events: A New Generation and the Next Frontier, Dr. Joe Goldblatt discusses how retailers have set up what he calls “retail events” to attract buyers and drive sales since the earliest days in history. The Internet has allowed retailers to market events in this subfield on a massive scale, and despite this select recording’s low viewership — which currently stands at 642 views — its mere online presence helps TheBrain’s executives reach their campaign objectives. The company does not provide the total attendee count for this specific webinar.
